I did this accidentally in the first Crossword Bebop. It didn’t hurt that Ashish Vengsarkar composed a Sunday puzzle titled “Anagrammatic Who’s Who.” But I’ve been slowly collecting anagrams of the names of crossword composers, and this seemed as good a time as any to mention some of them.
Emily Cox – Ice my lox! (Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon are the NYT Acrostic composers)
Elizabeth C. Gorski – A blitzkrieg’s echo (Should blitzkrieg be italicized?)
Robert W. Harris – Wars or rebirth (Do I need to include the . after the W as part of the anagram?)
Fred Piscop – Spec. Id Prof (a psychology professor?)
Henry Rathvon – Thy raven horn (see Emily Cox)
Mel Rosen – Solemner
Mel Taub – Mutable
Seven is a good stopping place, so I will do another post when I have a few more. I am definitely open to suggestions on improvements.
